As a novelist, Joy writes under her legal name, Joy Outlaw, and is the author of The Jane Luck Adventures series. Her work explores themes of identity, transformation, power, love, and the endless possibilities that emerge when people dare to become fully themselves..

JOY is Revolutionary

Everyone wants to get ahead, but Hustle Culture has been co-opted by the Western obsession with nonstop work. If you’re not careful, it can become just another hamster wheel. You can avoid that by turning down the outer noise and making a commitment to authentic living.

Come what may, you can follow your bliss to your purpose, align with your joy, and live well.

A Joyful Inspiration

The Virtue of Joy Is a Timeless Form of Strength

The Virtue of Joy Is a Timeless Form of Strength that many are rediscovering in our modern age. It’s helping us re-evaluate our relationships with work, partnership, and the institutions we once considered unquestionable. A great deconstruction is underway, and many are coming to powerful realizations
Smart work is better than hard work

Look around and notice who holds the most wealth and access to options—it’s rarely those who spend their lives grinding nonstop.

Struggle is not a flex

Yet, wealth for wealth’s sake is often an empty goal. Burnout becomes inevitable when we chase money and success purely for consumption, prestige, or people-pleasing.

Alignment matters

True integration happens when you practice J.O.Y.—Just Own You—with all the flaws and traits that make you unique. Understand what brings you deep happiness and take responsibility for becoming the best version of yourself so you can fully live in that joy.

Love is not war

The Gender Wars are tired. It’s time for cis-het men and women to stop fighting for power, respect one another as sovereign beings, and evolve—for everyone’s benefit.

As a Black woman in today’s world, Joy also understands that:

  • The era of the “Strong Black Woman” who is secretly dying from overwork has come to an end.
  • The time for pretending to be superhuman is over.
  • It’s time to embrace our humanity and rediscover the strength in joy.

This message is both timeless and relevant for anyone who wants to elevate from burnout to balance.
