Welp, once again, womanhood is under attack by the Cro Magnon Coalition of America. What else is new? I thought now would be as good a time as any to celebrate those most powerful aspects of femininity that are clearly scaring the shit out of them. If they weren?t mortified by the progress that women have made in this country, they wouldn?t be scratching their eyes out with frustration and foaming at the mouth with rage as they scramble to tear down every standard that was set in place to protect our dignity and humanity, right?
If they?re scared and clinging to their privileges like babies clutching their binkies, there?s a good reason. There?s always untold power in the advantages they try to keep from us. So, in my latest vlog entry entitled,??Bad Knees, Hot Flashes and a Tinder Swindler | What does it mean when she ?Hits the Wall??, I stare down the barrel of society?s expectations for middle-aged women and other women who don?t fit neatly into the tiny boxes that have been created to contain us. Then I grab the gun, turn it around, and fire back with my own assertions about our innate value as women.
But I didn?t do this to convince the naysayers of anything. Fuck them. I did this for you. A deeper understanding of your worth as a woman ? throughout every stage of life ? will always serve as one of the most potent weapons in your Earth survival kit.
We?re hearing a lot about the reproductive rights and bodily autonomy of women of child-bearing age. This is indeed a critical issue. However, many women who are beyond that phase don?t realize that they are uniquely positioned to take center stage in their own lives and in the communities that desperately need their wisdom and unabashed vibrancy.
Midlife could be the ?get out of jail free card?, the escape hatch from the b.s. that plagued you in your younger years, or the wild card that lets you become your best self. Don?t shrink and settle into the prison of limitation that?s been prepared for you. Don?t let bad knees, hot flashes, and a Tinder Swindler ruin your renaissance. Take your shit back and defend it with your life.
